--comet thermo-dynamics( ice tail)--

the reason hailey's comet has an "ice tail"--

i feel this is due to a convection of cold-to-hot, or "heat-sink principal", commonly observed in electronics--

  the concept--

as the comet moves rapidly through the fabric of space, the friction of the small particles in space, encountering the forward side of the comet, cause the forward facing area to super-heat...the backside of the comet is not heated from this friction( as it encounters no particles), but instead, the less-hot side( cooler), transfers it's heat to the forward-face of the comet, thus super-cooling the trailing side of the comet, and creating an "ice-tail", from ice falling/spilling off the trailing surface of the comet--

for a more detailed explanation of this thermo-reaction, see "thermo-dynamics front-to-back" post...

best wishes, john kruschke--
